Leave that alone and…

Stay focused on what you want to do.

I met with a  bright young woman this morning.  We talked about a business idea I want to bring to market.

I’m excited about this idea and come to find out she’s just as excited! In fact she’s thinking even bigger than me and loves doing all the things I don’t love doing.

Question.  Can I afford to hire her?

Answer. I can’t afford not to hire her!

In Part Three of Jack Canfield’s Success Principles the focus is to “Build Your Success Team”.  Today I found my success team…Principle 39 “Stay Focused on Your Core Genius” and I will add hire someone for their Core Genius and build your Success Team.

Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.

Passion + Enthusiasm = Living Out Loud

That’s right…make some noise!

Show some Enthusiasm!

Jack Canfield shares in Principle #38 the word enthusiasm comes from the Greek word entheos, which means “to be filled with GOD.”

When you are filled with spirit you are naturally filled with and fueled by Passion.

Are you doing what you love to do?

If not what would you do that is different?

How can you bring your Passion and Enthusiasm out into the world?

Passion.  Enthusiasm. Live Out Loud!

Commit to Lifelong Learning

When my grandmother, “Gingle”, turned 90 I traveled to Albuquerque to celebrate this special day with her and lots of family members.

Gingle, an avid reader, greeted me when I walked into her home with this…”Joey Sue I’m reading the most incredible book…7 Habits of Highly Effective People” and she proceeded to share a passage that she was especially inspired by.

My grandmother taught us, our family, the love of reading and the joy of a commitment to Lifelong Learning.

Jack Canfield titled Principle #36 Learn More to Earn More.  This applies and I would also add…learn more to transcend limiting beliefs, expand your world view and enjoy the richness of other cultures.

PS: Thank you Gingle

Do Good.Take Credit.

“Do Good. Take Credit.” I remember hearing this from a mentor, Jim Hughes, founder of The Brand Establishment.

At first I just smiled however as the years have gone by and I have worked with hundreds of people I notice more and more that we tend to focus on what we haven’t done instead of what we have done, or perhaps continually move the success bar so it’s always just out of reach.

In Principle #26 the invitation is to “Acknowledge Your Positive Past”. There’s a great exercise Jack Canfield suggests:

  • Divide your life into 3 equal time periods birth to your current age (i.e. if you’re 66 [birth to 22] [22 to 44] [44 to 66].
  • List three success for each time period.

I hope you’ll take the time to actually do this and share it…Do Good. Take Credit.

Exceed Expectations…

There’s a lot to be said in honoring your word or even better…over delivering on your promise!

Think back to a time when you surprised someone by doing just that.

Think back to a time when someone surprised you by doing that for you!

These moments are important because we make or experience something special and memorable.

I have a friend, Alina Vincent, who I think Jack Canfield must have had in mind when he came up with Principle 24… Exceed Expectations.

Alina is a business coach, brilliant strategist and trainer.  I have known Alina and been a grateful student for years.  I think the secret to her success is her ability to always over deliver on her promises…to always Exceed Expectations!

If you’re a business owner looking to increase your online presence Alina’s Visibility Kickstarter Challenge is coming soon.

Let’s Dance….

Let's Dance...

I was just thinking about what new activities I would add to my goals for the year that would create more fun and social engagement. Ta Da.....dancing!

Then I did a little research and found this from betterhealth.vic.gov.au:

Dancing has a wide range of physical and mental benefits including:

  • Improved condition of your heart and lungs
  • Increased muscular strength, endurance and motor fitness
  • Increased aerobic fitness
  • Improved muscle tone and strength
  • Weight management
  • Stronger bones and reduced risk of osteoporosis
  • Better coordination, agility and flexibility
  • Improved balance and spatial awareness
  • Increased physical confidence
  • Improved mental functioning
  • Improved general and psychological wellbeing
  • Greater self-confidence and self-esteem
  • Better social skills

Hope to see you include dance, especially if it feels awkward, to your 2017 personal/recreational goal setting 🙂

Let's dance........

In Gratitude,

In A Gratitude Rut?

I'm so very Grateful for my life and all of the remarkable people, like you, who have come into my orbit.

And there you have it...potential for a Gratitude Rut!

Don't get me wrong...I love and appreciate all the blessings in my life and as Thanksgiving (in the US) approaches, we become even more tuned in to what we are Grateful for. This means our daily Gratitude practice can run the risk of being like the movie Groundhound Day.

This week I invite you to challenge yourself and make a list of 50 daily Gratitudes...include the important ones (family, friends, clean water, pets etc)...and then begin to work on the ones you might take for granted.

I'll start...toilet paper, scissors, shampoo, tweezers, postage stamps, jokes, bubble baths...

Your turn...have fun and please feel free to share.

With Love and Gratitude,
Johanna

I’m Just Not Creative

I often hear this from business owners..."I'm just not creative".

For some reason we have an idea that creativity is limited to poets and painters.

I can't imagine anything more creative that creating and building a business, solving problems, providing services and generating revenue.

If you are not feeling creative in your business, take a look at where you are stuck and see if you can back away and look at a creative solution for getting un-stuck.

Need help? Please feel free to reach out to me for an "outsiders" viewpoint.

With Gratitude,

Johanna

Price -vs- Priceless

I was with my mastermind group in San Diego this week and we had a free evening to go out for dinner. Two of my buddies and I began our walk to the restaurant and while waiting to cross the street, we were invited, by a very enthusiastic disco rickshaw driver, to take a ride…

We could not say no the the flashing lights and pulsing music, so we hopped on and seat danced our way to the restaurant! It was so much fun to be a free-wheelin’ tourist!

When we arrived at our destination and went for our wallets, we were shocked to be told that our transportation cost was $30…per person. You read right $30 per person.

So the question is, would we have allowed ourselves this wonderful joyous experience if we had ask about the price first? Answer…hell no!

How many times have you robbed yourself of a trip, a business opportunity, the car you really wanted based on price?

Next time you get to choose…choose priceless over price. I can honestly tell you, in hindsight I would have paid double for that rickshaw ride.

With Love and Gratitude,
